1. Sense of return (BACK) / leave (AWAY)
Go back/away (eg radio, TV - also a person)
give back/away (return st borrowed or donateed)
put back/away (return to place vs store)
send/take back (food/goods), send/take away (remove)
2. Sense of inside (IN) / outside (OUT)
bring in/ bring out (eg food/people)
take in/out (eg washing)
move in/out
let sb in/out
see sb in/out
come in/out - go in/go out ( here we might want to emphasize the difference
between come and go - perspective of the speaker)
3. Sense of gathering / sheltering (IN) or release (OUT)
bring in (eg a criminal)
bring/reel in/let/reel out (fishing nets)
take in (eg a refugee)
let out (eg a prisoner)
take in/let out (your waistband/clothes)
4. Sense of connect (ON) / disconnect (OFF)
turn on/off (eg radio, TV, air con - also a person)
switch on/off (only electrical devices)
5. POSITION Sense of placing st on or off
put on /take off (clothes, physical objects)
get on/off (a bus, a plane, a bike)
