Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Ciber
Monday
THANKSGIVING is a national holiday celebrated on
various dates in the United States, Canada, Grenada, Saint Lucia, Liberia,
and unofficially in countries like Brazil and the Philippines.
It is also observed in the Dutch town of Leiden and the Australian territory of
Norfolk Island.
Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the
fourth Thursday of November in the United States.
It began as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the
past year.
Americans generally believe that their Thanksgiving is modeled on a 1621 harvest
feast shared by the English colonists (Pilgrims) of Plymouth.

BLACK FRIDAY
the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States. This
year it's Friday 24th.
It’s not about businesses closing the year in the back instead of being in the
red and losing money.
Police in Philadelphia in the 1960s complained about an influx of people coming
to the city to shop the day after Thanksgiving, calling it a “Black Friday”
because they had to control crowds at a football game. From there, the term was
used to describe shopping on that day and gained momentum with each passing year.

Cyber Monday is a marketing term for the Monday following the
Thanksgiving holiday. It falls on the first Monday after Thanksgiving, and it is
considered to be an online counterpart to Black Friday.
