S – Specific (“I want to improve my English” is vague. Something like “read 4
books in English” is better.

the B2 or C1 level exam is measurable. Make sure you can track your progress.
A – Achievable/Attainable (Reading 2 books every week for a year may not be an
achievable goal.)
R – Relevant – Why are you setting the goal that you are setting? Do you need to
pass the exam? Why are you studying academic English of you only need English
for travel and making small talk
T – Time sensitive – time-bound – How long? Set a date.
What goals, if any, have WE made for this year?
What can we do when we don’t achieve our goals?
Do you think people have fewer goals as they get older?
What have you done so far this year to improve your English?
This is what I’ve been hearing from my students lately:
“I don’t have time”. - How can you MAKE time?
“I’m too shy to speak.” / “I have no one to practise with” - How can you
overcome that?
“I don’t remember vocabulary.” - which apps or methods can you use?
“I have bad pronunciation. How can I improve it?”
