Last year Angeles and I went to visit my good friend Danny in Boulder, Colorado.
Before we left Spain we changed some Euros to Dollars because we knew we would need some
foreign currency when we arrived in Denver. We also took some traveller’s cheques which we had to sign and cash at a bank. Danny met us at the airport, and the next day we went shopping in Boulder.
I bought some jeans and a shirt and paid with ‘real’ money, the paper money called
notes in the UK and bills in America. Angeles bought some boots and paid with her ‘plastic’ money, or
credit card.
We drank a lot of coffee because Danny likes to sit in cafés. We paid for the coffee with small round money called
coins.
After two days of shopping we needed more money. The banks were closed so we got money from the
cash point in the wall of the bank. In America they’re called ATM machines. Danny didn’t have a
safe in his apartment, so I put most of the money in a money belt under my clothes, and carried it with me when I went out. But I put some money in my
wallet which I always keep in the pocket of my jeans. Angeles put her money in her
purse which she usually keeps in her bag.
We spent a lot of money on that holiday in America, but we had a great time! |
